This program provides personalized hampers for low income families at Christmas. Each year, starting in mid October we look for individuals, families, or organizations to donate a Christmas hamper to a family in need. The low income families have all been screened by Social Agencies, Schools, Health Services and their need to access the program confirmed. We ask that as a minimum, the hamper should include a gift for each child under the age of 16 and a grocery gift card for the family. Grocery gift cards are preferred, to avoid issues with food allergies and personal preferences. You will be provided with a family profile, which will include the first name, age, size, and a wish list for each family member. Note: The wish list is to help you select a gift, you are not obligated to purchase from the wish list and you are not expected to purchase everything on the list. Anything extra i.e gift for the parents is much appreciated. The average cost of a hamper for a family of 4, which includes gifts and a grocery gift card is approximately $400.00 to $500.00. We encourage you to take on more than one family if you have additional funds. If you are unable to adopt a family completely there are other ways you can help. You can donate gift cards ( food or other) or provide just the gifts for a particular family. All donations will get to a family who can use the support. If you wish to adopt a family please you can sign up here (opening to donors in mid October), or if you have questions about the program, please do not hesitate to contact us by leaving a message at (403) 590 6656 or by email at necaafs@shaw.ca. With thanks, Director
